Nikos Greek Restaurant

If you're ever in Ossett and craving an authentic Greek experience that hits the spot from the first bite to the last sip, Nikos Greek Restaurant on Dale Street is where your tastebuds need to be. Tucked away at 43 Dale St, this local gem brings the warmth of a Mediterranean kitchen right into the heart of West Yorkshire - no passport needed.

The moment you step into Nikos, the ambiance wraps around you like a welcome from a long-lost friend. It's laid-back yet elegant, cozy without feeling cramped, and filled with the inviting aromas of oregano, grilled meats, and freshly baked pita. Whether you're dining solo, enjoying a quiet lunch break, or winding down for dinner with friends, the space caters to every vibe. And if accessibility matters, good news - there’s wheelchair-accessible seating, making it a welcoming spot for everyone.

Let’s talk food, because that’s where Nikos Greek Restaurant really shines. Their Greek Chicken Souvlaki is an absolute must-try - juicy, perfectly charred, and served with warm pita, fresh salad, and a generous helping of tzatziki. For something heartier, the Kleftiko - slow-cooked lamb that falls apart with just a fork - is pure comfort food, Greek-style. And if you're feeling adventurous, the King Prawn Saganaki, bathed in a rich tomato sauce and topped with feta, offers a delightful twist that balances boldness and tradition in one bite.

The menu doesn’t stop there. Starters like Garlic Mushrooms and Bruschetta Greca set the tone with big flavors in small bites, while shareable options like the Mezze Platter are perfect if you're not quite ready to commit to just one dish. Vegetarians are also in for a treat with options like Greek Yogurt with honey and nuts, Olives, and lighter plates that don’t skimp on flavor. And yes - there are healthy options and small plates that make it easy to keep things balanced without sacrificing indulgence.

If you're dining with a group (or just have a big appetite), the Nikos Special Pizza brings the soul of Greece to your table, layered with Mediterranean toppings and perfectly baked. Fans of seafood will appreciate the Calamari Fritti or Sea Bass, both executed with finesse, while classic comfort-lovers can go for the familiar yet satisfying Spaghetti Bolognese or Chips as a side to just about anything.

And now for dessert - don’t even think about skipping it. Their Baklava is syrupy, flaky perfection, and pairs beautifully with a strong cup of Greek coffee. Prefer something creamier? The Cheesecake, Ice Cream, or Chocolate-based treats provide a sweet finale without being overbearing. It’s all complemented by a drinks list that impresses: Heineken and a solid wine list, as well as spirits, beer, and great coffee for those who like to sip slowly and linger a little longer.

As a local favorite, Nikos Greek Restaurant draws in a crowd during both lunch and dinner hours, especially those who appreciate hearty, home-style Greek cuisine that doesn’t cut corners. It’s also a great pick for those flying solo - the service is friendly, the food arrives with care, and you never feel rushed.

Whether you’re picking up a takeaway to enjoy at home or sitting in to soak up the lively atmosphere, Nikos delivers on consistency, flavor, and that classic Greek hospitality. It’s the kind of place that locals swear by and visitors remember long after they’ve left town.

Very nice atmosphere, some dishes better than others I had prawn saganaki starter and moussaka (main) which was nice but needed a touch more seasoning. Will visit again to try some other dishes

My family went for dinner to this place, the owner service was great, really friendly and warmed. We ordered the Mediterranean plate to share, in general it was good but I won’t rush to have it again. The dessert were delicious and the service will definitely bring me back to try other dishes from the menu

We decided to give this restaurant a try as we had heard good reviews and it didn't disappoint. The place is accessible but doesn't have its own parking which was it's only issue but there are lots of place to park around it. The view is nice from outside but so cute, cosy and welcoming inside and your greeted with a smile and friendly welcome then shown too your table pretty much immediately. The restaurant is a huge restaurant but fairly decent sized with lovely decor and lighting. The menu has plenty too choose from and not over priced either. We chose the meze as I wanted to try a bit of everything and am so glad I did the selection of food was amazing so much to try but not too overwhelming. We had dips, olives and flatbread then our starter dishes to follow. The mains were the star of the show with different dishes too try, each dish had so much flavour and cooked to perfection. And top finish the amazing savory dishes we had baklava and ice cream to end our meal which was divine. The food was clearly cooked from scratch and fresh you, you could taste the sheer quality of the food. That was the best meal I had had in a long time and I will definitely be recommending this restaurant too friends and family and I can't wait to go back
